This is one of the main reasons I dislike these kind of shows so much. Don't get me wrong, theyre hilarious and the theme tune to this show is one of the main soundtracks to my childhood. But kids are so susceptible to influence when they are little, everything they are exposed to growing up influences them when they are older. The adults that create shows like this form storylines and characters based on their own experiences growing up. They carry dated gender stereotypes into younger generations. A first hand example of this is when we had the crit for this project and 5 out of 8 groups used the demographic of a wife in the kitchen serving her husband dinner. it's just such a dated and heteronormative system, but it is what most people have grown up with and been exposed to on tv.
